Peter J Lawson
Joined Hill Brown in 1989 having previously been a partner in the Ayrshire firm, McSherry Halliday. A graduate of Glasgow University in 1979, Peter has overall responsibility for our Commercial and Residential Conveyancing department and is a leading licensing lawyer, quoted in Chambers directory of legal experts. Peter has many years experience dealing with independent and national clients across the range of licensing requirements in Scotland and with their commercial requirements
Graham Davidson
Graham is head of the Private Client Department. He joined Hill Brown in 1980 and became a partner in 1985. He has specialised in Private Client work for most of his career and provides a wealth of experience on all Private Client matters. He is a Private Client Tutor in the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde and is also a Member of the Society of Trust and Executry Practitioners (STEP)
Jack Cummins
Jack took MA and LLB degrees at Glasgow University, joined Hill Brown in 1976, qualified as a solicitor in 1978 and became a partner in 1980. Over the past 30 years he has specialised in licensing. He was a member of the Nicholson licensing law review committee, edits the specialist journal Scottish Licensing Law and Practice, contributes to trade and legal periodicals and speaks regularly at licensing conferences. Chambers Guide to the legal profession rates him as a starred individual in his field.
Aileen Thomson
Aileen Thomson is a Senior Associate of the firm and an honours graduate from Glasgow University, graduating in 1990. Aileen deals with all aspects of commercial and domestic conveyancing. Aileen has spent a number of years acting for various developers, assisting them with their purchasing, funding and leasing requirements. Additionally, Aileen has also acted for a number of well known retail and licensed trade clients in relation all aspects of their leasing requirements in both commercial and retail developments.
Diane Russell
Diane graduated from St Andrews University with an MA Honours Degree in 1983, and moved to Glasgow with her (now) husband in 1986 where she worked in Hill Brown as a personal assistant. She spent 2 years in Bermuda working as a personal assistant in the Commercial and Litigation Departments of Appleby Spurling & Kempe, one of the largest legal firms on the island. On her return to Scotland, she chose to study law as a part-time student at Strathclyde University whilst bringing up her family.Diane joined the Hill Brown Licensing team in August 2007.
Audrey Young
Audrey graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2006 with Honours. She joined Hill Brown in August 2007 as a Trainee. Following completion of her traineeship in August 2009 Audrey accepted a position as a qualified Solicitor in our Licensing Department and has already gained considerable experience working closely with our clients operating in both the 'on' and 'off' trade sectors.
Fiona Gibson
Fiona graduated from the University of Strathclyde with Honours in 2007. Fiona joined Hill Brown in 2008 as a Trainee Solicitor and has worked since 2010 as a solicitor in our Private Client department. She handles all aspects of administering Executry estates and advises on succession planning, including preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney.
